If your computer is set to use Javascript,
this page will calculate CO2 emissions
from a few direct fossil fuel uses.
Less direct sources, like those hidden
in product manufacture and delivery,
are not automatically included.

All non-SI measures are UK,
but are usually similar to USA.

Please enter figures and select units

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Why is this called the "Vampire Sheet"?

A: In its paper form it proved very difficult to distribute free to environmentalists. Giving out the sheets was said to be like trying to hand out crucifixes to vampires.

Q: Is it still up-to-date?

A: No. It was based on 1990 figures. If it were recalculated today (for those who have not adopted a quota yet) the allowable threshold would turn out to be far less than shown here. A recent calculation by Monbiot seems to suggest that the up-to-date quota, apparently calculated in a comparable way, has now fallen to near zero.
